Search Communications and Progress

We respectfully ask that you understand we cannot always update you on searches we conduct. There may be many reasons for this;

Thames Valley Police decide what does and doesn't go into the public domain in relation to an ongoing search or investigation. We will only ever put up our standard message to say the team has been called out and share their official press releases and appeals. Occasionally we will put our own press release in the days following the incident, but only where appropriate.

We very rarely check our social media account when we're deployed on a search as we are as you will understand too busy doing other tasks!

If you have urgent information regarding a live search, please call 101, or if there is a danger to life then call 999.

We take the privacy and welfare of the missing people we search for very seriously, and want their lives to be able to return to normal once they've been found.

The police will keep next-of-kin suitably updated on progress.

In most circumstances it is not appropriate to have members of the public join the search, having large numbers of people makes it more difficult to successfully locate a missing person; resources such as air scenting dogs and drones will not work if the area if flooded with lots of people.

We do really appreciate the messages of support that many of our followers put in comments, so please keep them coming!

Thank you for your understanding.
